Curbs on All Chemicals Likely From EPA Proposal, Industries Told

Nearly all chemicals that the EPA evaluates are likely to be deemed so risky that they must be restricted if an agency rule is finalized as proposed, American Chemistry Council officials said Wednesday.

The practical impact of the policies, procedures, and definitions the Environmental Protection Agency proposed in a risk evaluation rule in October “is that the vast majority and perhaps all risk evaluations will ultimately yield a ‘presents an unreasonable risk’ determination,” said Karyn Schmidt, ACC’s senior director for global affairs, during a webinar.
