Crown Holdings Unit Wins Reversal of $3.6M Asbestos Award

Crown Holdings Inc.'s Crown Cork & Seal unit won reversal of a $3.6 million punitive damages award in an asbestos wrongful death suit, a California appeals court ruled (Saller v. Crown Cork & Seal Co., 2017 BL 45979, Cal. Ct. App., 2d Dist., No. B260277, unpublished 2/15/17).

The family of a Standard Oil refinery worker allegedly exposed to asbestos in Crown Cork products at work failed to present evidence of the company’s ability to pay, the court said.
