Costco Wholesale Corp. will craft strategies for managing its products in what the retailer says is the first partnership between a major retailer and a university’s green chemistry safety center.
The company is partnering with the Berkeley Center for Green Chemistry, where scientists will study Costco’s practices, supply chains, and product criteria, and make recommendations, Tom McKeag, the center’s executive director, told Bloomberg BNA. The center has previously worked with companies like Levi Strauss & Co., Patagonia Inc., W.L. Gore and Associates.
