Canada’s Lundin Mining Corp. is fighting a $4.7 million fine imposed on its Candelaria copper mine in northern Chile over a failure to reduce its water use.
The move, announced in a June 28 financial statement, comes after the Second Environmental Court in Santiago last month rejected an appeal by the company against the fines imposed by Chile’s environmental regulator Superintendencia del Medio Ambiente in November 2016.
