ConocoPhillips Urges More Time for Willow Project Pause Decision

ConocoPhillips Alaska Inc. asked a federal judge to spread out the timeline for determining whether to halt construction on the company’s Willow oil project while appeals from Indigenous American and environmental groups go to the Ninth Circuit.

Those groups, in two separate cases appealed the US District Court for the District of Alaska’s Nov. 9 decision upholding the Biden administrations approval of Conoco’s $7.5 billion project in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska, which is projected to yield 180,000 barrels of oil per day.
