ConocoPhillips and Phillips 66 will pay $11.5 million to settle a complaint filed by California Attorney General Kamala Harris (D) alleging improper maintenance and operation of underground tanks used to store gasoline for retail sales California v. Phillips 66 Company and ConocoPhillips Company, Cal. Super. Ct., RG13661894, 5/6/15.
“ConocoPhillips and Phillips 66 failed to monitor hazardous materials in large gasoline tanks, which endangered nearby water supplies,” Harris said in a May 7 statement.
