Connecticut Governor Says Wind Farm Fight Will Raise Power Bills

Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont blasted the Trump administration’s order halting work on offshore wind projects, saying it will undermine attempts to lower power bills.

“This is blowing a hole in our efforts to bring down the price of electricity,” Lamont, a Democrat, said during an interview on Bloomberg Television Tuesday.

His comments come a day after the US Interior Department announced it was suspending leases for all five major offshore wind projects under construction in the US. That includes Revolution Wind, a 700-megawatt project expected to power about 350,000 homes in Rhode Island and Connecticut.
