Con Edison, NYC Get New Gowanus Canal Cleanup Plan From EPA (1)

The EPA announced on Monday the next step in its decades-long cleanup of one of the nation’s most contaminated bodies of water.

Six parties have been identified by the Environmental Protection Agency as bearing the most responsibility for contamination at the Gowanus Canal Superfund site in Brooklyn: Consolidated Edison of New York; Hess Corp.; Honeywell International; Brooklyn Union Gas Co., now doing business as National Grid New York; the City of New York; and The Brooklyn Improvement Co.
