Companies to Pay $16 Million For Hazardous Glass Cleanup in Ohio

Garrison Southfield Park LLC and Olymbec USA agreed to pay $16 million to clean up two Columbus, Ohio, properties contaminated with millions of pounds of lead-containing cathode-ray tube glass.

The Delaware companies own the two properties, but leased them to Closed Loop Glass Solutions and Closed Loop Refining and Recovery for glass recycling operations. The businesses accepted millions of pounds of glass, never recycled it, and then abandoned the sites in 2016.

  • Garrison and Olymbec already conducted cleanup during the resolution of these claims, and will now be responsible for closing the sites
