The Center for Biological Diversity is asking a court to review the EPA’s approval of Colorado’s permit for an oil and gas wastewater treatment facility, arguing more components of the plant should have to follow air pollution regulations.
The conservation group alleges holding tanks at the Hunter Mesa facility in western Colorado, which processes wastewater from oil and gas extraction, emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The tanks therefore should be required to utilize control technology to limit pollution like other parts of the plant, the group argues.
