Colorado Voters Narrowly Approve Wolf Reintroduction Measure

Voters in Colorado narrowly approved a measure calling for the reintroduction of gray wolves in the western part of the state.

The measure (Proposition 114) won on a vote of 50.34% to 49.66%, the Colorado Secretary of State’s Office said Thursday. It requires the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission to develop a plan to reintroduce and manage gray wolves west of the Continental Divide by Dec. 31, 2023.

It also requires the commission to use state funds to assist livestock owners in preventing conflicts with wolves, and pay fair compensation for livestock losses.
