Colorado on Nov. 16 became the 13th state to join California in the fight to block the Trump administration from weakening fuel economy standards.
Colorado’s Air Quality Control Commission adopted (Regulation 20) California-style low emission vehicle standards proposed by Gov. John Hickenlooper (D) in June. The standards, which cover new light- and medium-duty motor vehicles sold in Colorado beginning in the 2022 model year, will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 2 million tons a year by 2030, according to the state Air Pollution Control Division.
