Colombia Lacks License to Import Venezuelan Gas, Minister Says

Colombia’s state oil company is unable to import natural gas from Venezuela because it lacks a license from the US required to do so, the Andean nation’s energy chief said.

Top officials from President Gustavo Petro’s government visited Caracas in a bid to help plug a growing shortfall of the critical fuel used in factories and for cooking. But Ecopetrol SA doesn’t have authorization from the Office of Foreign Assets Control for the badly needed imports, Mining and Energy Minister Edwin Palma said upon his return to Colombia.
