Murray Energy Corp. and Consol Energy Inc. are exposed to potential losses because power plants that burn their coal may close, according to a report by CreditSights Inc.
Some three dozen U.S. coal plants—which aren’t currently slated for retirement—could be forced out of business amid continued growth in renewable energy and natural gas-fired power generation, CreditSights analysts Charles Johnston, Andy DeVries, and Nick Moglia said in a June 28 report.
