Climate Suit Against Exxon Should Proceed, Group Urges Court

Federal appeals court judges on Monday questioned whether a landmark climate change suit against Exxon should move forward if the federal government acts on a related permit.

The closely-watched lawsuit, which environmental group Conservation Law Foundation first filed in 2016, centers on whether Exxon’s decades-old oil and gas terminal in Everett, Mass., has been releasing pollutants into the water because it hasn’t been adequately fortified against large storms caused by global warming.
