Climate Change Added to EPA Top Priorities by Internal Watchdog

The EPA’s internal watchdog on Monday identified action on climate change as one of the agency’s top priorities, marking a new addition to its yearly to-do list.

Together with the Environmental Protection Agency’s strategic plan, the inspector general’s priority list helps shape an agenda for the agency in fiscal 2022.

The new climate change priority stems in part from President Joe Biden’s February executive order, which requires a government-wide approach, the inspector general said in a new report. The watchdog also said the EPA is “uniquely positioned to provide leadership in addressing climate change,” both nationally and internationally. ...
