The 21 youth plaintiffs of Juliana v. United States are petitioning the US Supreme Court to reverse a recent lower court dismissal of their case, in efforts to keep their lawsuit alive.
The young challengers filed a writ of mandamus on Thursday, following a fatal blow to the case earlier this year from the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
The case was dismissed in May, when a Ninth Circuit panel granted a government request to have the lawsuit tossed for lack of standing. The Ninth Circuit also denied their request for a rehearing.
