Citibank Sued by Second EPA Grant Recipient Over Climate Funds

A clean energy-focused financing organization that received EPA grant money targeted by the Trump administration sued Citibank NA on Monday, alleging breach of contract in freezing its accounts.

The group, the Coalition for Green Capital, received $5 billion under the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, which was created by the 2022 climate law.

The Coalition is a green bank that seeks to kickstart private investment in the clean economy, a key plank of the Biden administration’s climate plan. The Trump White House has repeatedly framed the funding as a wasteful giveaway to favored recipients.
