China Defines Grid Companies’ Duties Toward Solar Photovoltaic Power Producers

China’s National Energy Administration has issued a policy defining the responsibilities of grid companies for sourcing electricity from solar photovoltaic (PV) projects.

The “Temporary Measures for PV Power Generation and Operation Regulations,” posted on the agency’s website Dec. 9, detail how grid companies must help solar developers connect their projects to the grid within certain time limits, must distribute subsidies based on national standards to providers in a timely manner, and must install metering devices. The document also details licensing policies for PV projects.
