Chile Aims for First Green Hydrogen Production by End of 2021

Chile’s government wants to have the country’s first plants producing hydrogen from renewable energy sources operating by the end of next year as part of a larger push to become carbon neutral from 2050, said Energy Minister Juan Carlos Jobet.

The South American country wants to use energy produced from solar and wind-farm projects under development to produce clean hydrogen, which in the future may displace dirtier carbon-emitting fuels in industries such as steel production, aviation and maritime transport.
