Chicago Area Aluminum Facility to Pay $1 Million for Pollution

A suburban Chicago aluminum processing facility agreed to pay $1 million to the federal government Wednesday to resolve alleged Clean Air Act violations.

Trialco Aluminum LLC polluted excess levels of particulate matter and hydrogen chloride, failed to maintain records or conduct inspections on emissions, and didn’t use the required control devices at its Chicago Heights, Ill., according a complaint and proposed consent decree filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
