Chemours Sues Army Over Cleanup at World War II Factory Site

The Chemours Co. is suing the Army for the cost of cleaning up a Minnesota factory site where the military produced millions of pounds of chemicals during World War II.

The chemical company is seeking reimbursement for environmental cleanup at the site after the Army allegedly denied its claims, according to the complaint filed in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims Sept. 10.

Chemours, a spinoff from DowDupont, has filed three claims of more than $200,000 incurred response costs and attorneys’ fees under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act, the federal Superfund law.
