Chemours Ordered to Follow Discharge Permits at Plastics Factory

The Chemours Co. “boldly violates” the Clean Water Act and must comply with discharge permits for a West Virginia plastics factory that produces semiconductor components, a federal judge ruled.

Judge Joseph R. Goodwin of the US District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia chastised the chemical giant Thursday in granting environmental groups’ motion for preliminary injunction, ruling that Chemours’ violations of its pollution discharge permit for “forever chemicals” were “multiple, continuous, and excessive.”
