Chemical manufacturers, along with energy and water utilities, are among the industries essential to maintain amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Department of Homeland Security said in guidance released Thursday.
The document is intended to guide state and local jurisdictions as they decide which industries and services should continue normal operations, the agency said. The guidance doesn’t impose any mandates on states, localities or private companies, it said.
Critical infrastructure industries have a special responsibility to their normal work schedules, according to the guidance.
