Challenge to Massachusetts Wind Energy Project Tossed by Judge

A group of Nantucket, Mass., residents lost their challenge to an offshore wind energy project, after a federal judge found that the US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management adequately considered the project’s environmental impacts.

Nantucket Residents Against Turbines claimed that the bureau didn’t take a hard look at how the $3 billion Vineyard Wind LLC project would effect North Atlantic right whales. The group had asked the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts to toss the agency’s approval of the project and block it from issuing permits.
