Cardinal Hickory-Creek Power Project Blocked in Wisconsin (2)

Power companies can’t proceed with construction on the $500 million Cardinal Hickory-Creek Transmission Line in Wisconsin that was authorized under a regional general permit, a judge ruled in a win for environmental groups.

American Transmission Co. LLC, Dairyland Power Cooperative, and ITC Midwest LLC put the court into this position by not delaying their plans to disturb federal waters, according to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin. The companies also only showed minimal harm, if any, from a brief pause on their work, the court said Monday.
