Shale oil production in the U.S. hasn’t fully rebounded to previous highs after its pandemic-driven collapse. Yet future growth isn’t out of the question, according to U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm -- as long as environmental concerns are addressed.

Granholm said the bipartisan infrastructure framework announced Thursday includes “significant” money for demonstration projects for carbon capture and storage.

“These kinds of technologies will help for the oil and gas sector to be able to ramp up production, but in a way that’s clean,” she said Friday in a Bloomberg TV interview.
