The US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit sided with Louisiana residents on Wednesday in a decision that saves a case centered on “Cancer Alley” pollution.
The panel said that a lower court got it wrong when it dismissed claims brought by Louisiana advocates such as RISE St. James and Inclusive Louisiana, who are looking to stem what they argue are racist zoning policies in the heavily polluted area where low income and predominately Black residents reside.
