Canceled Keystone Pipeline Moots GOP State Suit, DOJ Tells Court

The Biden administration told a Texas federal judge it should end a lawsuit by Republican-led states over an order revoking a permit for the now-canceled Keystone XL pipeline project.

TC Energy Corp has made it clear that it won’t build the pipeline no matter how the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas rules, according to the Justice Department. As a result, Texas, Montana, and other red states no longer have a legally cognizable interest in the outcome of the case, and the court can’t grant the states effective relief, DOJ said Monday in its motion to dismiss. ...
