Canada and the U.S. have finished an agreement to work collaboratively on securing minerals used in strategic industries and the defense sector, weeks after agreeing to work together to protect minerals needed in the energy sector.
The Canada-U.S. Joint Action Plan on Critical Minerals Collaboration will guide both countries in securing supply chains, information sharing, engaging with private companies and using multilateral institutions, Natural Resources Minister Seamus O’Regan announced Jan. 9.
“We are advancing secure access to the critical minerals that are key to our economic growth and security, including uranium and rare earth elements,” O’Regan said in a statement. ...
