California Seeks to Block Energy Department Sable Restart Order

The US Department of Energy unlawfully directed Sable Offshore Corp. to defy state regulators and court orders to stop pumping oil, California said in a new court filing asking a judge to block the department’s emergency order.

Energy Secretary Chris Wright directed the company to violate the state’s property rights and a federal consent decree governing the restart of the Las Flores pipeline system in a Defense Production Act restart order, California said in a motion for a preliminary injunction filed in the US District Court for the Central District of California.
