California is permanently barred from enforcing its ban on the imports and sales of products made from alligator or crocodile parts, a federal judge ruled, siding with businesses that proposed the injunction for final resolution of the case.
Chief Judge Kimberly J. Mueller of the US District Court for the Eastern District of California already determined that the Endangered Species Act preempts the California law in an order of summary judgment in favor of alligator farms and other businesses, but had directed the parties to propose a final remedy.
