California Passes Bill to Test Baby Food for Heavy Metals (1)

A bill requiring baby food manufacturers to test their products for toxic elements like heavy metals at least one per month was passed by California lawmakers.

AB 899, which was passed on a 57-0 vote Wednesday and will go to California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s desk, would require manufacturers both in and out of state to test baby food for lead, mercury, cadmium, and arsenic starting in January.
