Most takeout containers, disposable cups, and other single-use plastics sold in California would be recyclable or compostable in 10 years under a proposal Thursday in the state legislature.
Environmentalists and the plastics industry have reached a tentative agreement to reduce single-use plastics by 25% in California by 2032. By that year, 65% of covered materials would have to be recycled or composted.
