California Conservancy Agency Accused of Wetland Fund Misuse (1)

The State Coastal Conservancy of California misspent more than $12 million on research for a project that seeks to destroy the last remaining coastal wetlands in Los Angeles, a suit filed in state court alleges.

According to the Aug. 7 suit, the agency used funds from a bond designated by California’s Proposition 12 to research ways to destroy the Ballona Wetlands, so that gas companies including SoCalGas could upgrade their underground natural gas storage facilities.
