California Commercial Bakery Agrees To Settlement of Clean Air Act Allegations

LOS ANGELES—Federal and state regulators announced a $1.375 million settlement with a commercial bakery in Lodi for allegedly failing to obtain necessary air pollution permits and install required emissions controls (United States v. Cottage Bakery Inc.).

Cottage Bakery Inc., owned by Illinois-based Ralcorp Frozen Bakery Products, agreed to pay $625,000 in penalties, split evenly between the Environmental Protection Agency and the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, according to a proposed consent decree filed June 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California.
