California Approves $10 Billion Climate Preparedness Bond: AP

A California ballot measure to authorize $10 billion in bonds for climate change programs passed, marking the largest public investment in climate resilience in the state’s history.

Proposition 4 received support from about 58% of voters in the preliminary count from the Nov. 5 election, according to the Associated Press, reflecting concern among voters about the ramifications of climate change amid growing concerns over wildfires, droughts and water quality.

A simple majority of voters was needed for the bond measure to pass. The final tally is expected in the coming days, with about 53% of votes counted so far.
