California Agency Revises List of Products Under Review in Safer Products Program

California’s Department of Toxic Substances Control aims to begin this fall its official, yearlong rulemaking needed to complete the process for determining the first “priority” products, or product-chemical combinations, under the state’s groundbreaking Safer Consumer Products Regulations, an agency official said Sept. 25.

Speaking at a workshop in Sacramento, Karl Palmer, branch chief of the DTSC’s Safer Consumer Products and Workplace Program, said the agency has made some changes to the draft list of three priority products it released in March, based on new information and public comments.
