California AG Rob Bonta Defeats Challenge to Plastics Subpoena

Plastics industry groups failed to convince a federal judge to block California Attorney General Rob Bonta’s subpoena for internal documents and communications linked to the alleged “decades-long campaign of deception” around the recyclability of plastic.

Judge Amit P. Mehta on Wednesday denied the American Chemistry Council’s and Plastics Industry Association’s motions for a preliminary injunction, finding the trade groups did not show a likeliness of success in establishing that Bonta is subject to the jurisdiction of the US District Court for the District of Columbia.
