Aug. 14, 2020, 6:52 PM UTC

Calcasieu Refining has idled its Lake Charles refinery in southwest Louisiana and may keep it shut the rest of the year unless product demand improves, people familiar with operations say.

  • The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality was notified the refinery was shutting down Aug. 1, agency spokesman Greg Langley said
  • No immediate response to email and phone call to the co. seeking response
  • The 135.5k b/d refinery has 2 crude units, a vacuum distillation unit and an isomerization unit
