Burning Man Organizers Sue Over Geothermal Exploration Project

The Bureau of Land Management didn’t adequately assess the environmental impacts of a geothermal exploration project and inevitable power plant, Burning Man organizers alleged in a new lawsuit filed in federal court in Nevada.

The Burning Man Project, Friends of Black Rock/High Rock Inc., and Friends of Nevada Wilderness sued the agency, alleging that its Environmental Review ignored multiple potential harms—including harms to nearby hot springs that are relied upon by the local community for tourism and a water source.
