Bunker Hill Escapes Trespass, Cost Claims for Flooded Idaho Mine

Bunker Hill Mining Corp. can avoid Crescent Mine LLC’s trespass, nuisance, and negligence allegations because it doesn’t own the mine responsible for acidic drainage that’s flooding an adjacent mine in northern Idaho, a federal court in the state ruled.

Placer Mining Corp. is the current owner of the Bunker Hill Mine. Allegedly, the company deliberately diverted acidic mine drainage into lower levels of the mine instead of sending it to a treatment plant after assuming ownership. This has flooded lower levels of the nearby Crescent Mine, preventing Crescent Mine LLC from mining about 9.3 million ounces of silver ore.
