British Columbia OKs Restart of Mount Polley Mine

British Columbia has conditionally authorized the resumption of restricted operations at the Mount Polley copper and gold mine, shut down since a tailings pond collapse nearly a year ago polluted downstream drinking water.

The Imperial Metals vice president of corporate affairs told Bloomberg BNA that the company estimates that it will take one month to prepare the Mount Polley facility for operations, with startup possible in early to mid-August.
