A Teck Coal Ltd. project mine in an area subject to controversy over leachates flowing into groundwater and into the U.S. was granted environmental approval with 25 conditions by British Columbia’s Environmental Assessment Office.
Minister of Environment Mary Polak and Minister of Energy and Mines Bill Bennett issued an environmental assessment certificate to Teck for its Baldy Ridge Extension project, located approximately 2.5 kilometers east of the District of Sparwood in southeast British Columbia.
