Brazil Updates Safety Regulations for Dangerous Goods Transport

Companies transporting or consigning dangerous goods by road or rail in Brazil will soon be required to follow new U.N.-recommended safety regulations, a federal transportation regulator told Bloomberg BNA.

The National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) adopted the United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods in 2016. The resolution goes into effect July 16.

“The resolution creates new requirements for national dangerous goods transport that are aligned with the latest international recommendations, adding security to their transport,” Tatiana Alvim, an ANTT regulatory specialist, told Bloomberg BNA April 13.
