BP Joins Gas-From-Cow-Manure Push With Joint Venture in U.S.

Oil giant BP Plc agreed to form a joint venture to harvest renewable natural gas from dairies, following in the footsteps of rivals including Chevron Corp. that are seeking to reduce their carbon footprint.

BP will provide a $50 million loan to Clean Energy Fuels Corp. to cover engineering, permitting and other costs already incurred by the company in establishing RNG production facilities, according to a regulatory filing on Monday. BP and Clean Energy each will own 50% of the venture.
