Boeing to Weigh Big 737 Max Output Jump Later This Year (1)

Boeing Co. late this year aims to begin preparations to hike output of its 737 family of jetliners to 47 aircraft per month, an earlier-than-expected move that would help put its finances on firmer footing.

The planemaker is rapidly approaching the maximum 737 production rate currently allowed by US regulators of 38 jets per month, Chief Executive Officer Kelly Ortberg said on Thursday.

The company plans to then shift to 42 planes a month, provided the Federal Aviation Administration approves and its supply chains and factories are stable, Ortberg said. If suppliers can keep pace, Boeing would lay the groundwork ...
