A coalition of 19 blue and purple states is pushing back against an EPA plan to soften rules about how a potent greenhouse gas can be used.
The Democratic attorneys general—who represent California, New York, and Illinois, as well as New York City and Washington, D.C.—told the Environmental Protection Agency its proposed rule is based on reasons that are “contradicted by the evidence,” doesn’t meaningfully analyze the costs and benefits, and is unfair to parties that have complied with the current rule in good faith.
