The US Bureau of Land Management unlawfully authorized the elimination of two horse management areas in Wyoming and a horse population reduction in a third, conservation groups claimed in a petition for review.
The amendments to the Green River and Rawlins Resource Management Plan could lead to the eradication of at least 1,200 wild horses, which are protected through the Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act, American Wild Horse Campaign, Animal Welfare Institute, and Western Watershed Project said.
