The Senate voted on Thursday to push ahead on a final vote to confirm the Biden administration’s pick to lead the EPA’s enforcement wing.
The 51-44 vote cuts off debate on the nomination of David Uhlmann to be the Environmental Protection Agency’s chief enforcer and clears a path for his confirmation as soon as Tuesday.
Uhlmann has faced a long road toward confirmation. In April 2022, the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee deadlocked 10-10. A successful discharge motion in September opened up Uhlmann’s path, but he wasn’t confirmed before the 117th Congress ended.
